Commercial Truck Registration for Los Angeles and Port Drayage Fleets
We're Sticker Quicker, a licensed California DMV business partner (OL 90656), and we keep Los Angeles County commercial trucks registered: renewals up to 80,000 lbs online with an instant e-copy, new trucks and transfers by mail, and, where eligible, fee posting during a Clean Truck Check or Form 2290 hold. We serve LA remotely from our Fremont office.
Registration for the trucks that move San Pedro Bay
The Port of Los Angeles handled 10,239,318 TEUs in 2025 and has been the busiest container port in the Western Hemisphere for 26 straight years. Next door, the Port of Long Beach runs its own terminals. Between them, drayage trucks are the link from ship to warehouse, and a drayage truck has more registries to satisfy than almost any other vehicle in California. Here is who keeps each one.
| Registry or program | Who keeps it |
|---|---|
| DMV vehicle registration, CVRA weight decal, plates | California DMV (we process this) |
| Form 2290 Schedule 1 proof, 55,000 lbs and up | IRS, shown to DMV at registration |
| Clean Truck Check reporting and testing | CARB |
| Port Drayage Truck Registry (PDTR) | Port of Los Angeles Clean Truck Program |
| Clean Truck Fund rate, $10 per loaded TEU, non-exempt trucks | Port of Los Angeles Clean Truck Program |
We keep the first two lines current and can post renewal fees while a Clean Truck Check hold is cleared. Eligibility depends on the hold type and your vehicle record, and we confirm exactly what can be posted before you pay. The port registry, the Clean Truck Fund, and CARB reporting stay with you as the carrier.
Where the zero emission drayage rule stands
Under CARB's Advanced Clean Fleets rule, only zero emission trucks could be newly added to CARB's drayage registry starting January 1, 2024. CARB has since withdrawn its federal waiver request and says it is not enforcing the drayage and high-priority fleet portions, while state and local government fleet requirements remain. Because this is still moving, confirm CARB's current status before you buy, register, or retire a drayage truck. The DMV registration itself does not change: weight, plates, CVRA decal, and 2290 proof. That is the part we handle.
Beyond the ports: the I-710 corridor and the basin
LA Metro reports that I-710 carries nearly 40,000 heavy-duty trucks a day, and the Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Glendale area counted about 793,300 trade, transportation, and utilities jobs in August 2026, by preliminary federal figures. Most of those trucks never touch a terminal: box trucks, service bodies, refrigerated units, and tractors serving warehouses across the basin.
Renewals that never lapse
Our Virtual Garage tracks every unit and expiration date and renews trucks up to 80,000 lbs online.
New and used trucks
Mail us the MCO, MSO, or title with the REG 343 and REG 4008, and we review the file before it goes to DMV.
Weight changes
When a truck gains a body or lift gate, we update the declared weight and CVRA decal to match.
One office, statewide reach
We are a Fremont business, licensed by the California DMV since 2013, and we do not pretend otherwise. Los Angeles customers work with us online and by phone at 916-270-6400. Los Angeles Truck Registration Questions
What does a drayage truck at the Port of Los Angeles need besides DMV registration?
A port registry listing and CARB reporting. Every drayage truck entering the San Pedro Bay terminals must be listed in the Port Drayage Truck Registry, and trucks newly registered there for new service since October 1, 2018 must be model year 2014 or newer. CARB keeps its own truck reporting system. At Sticker Quicker we handle the DMV registration; the port and CARB filings stay with you.
Do drayage trucks have to be zero emission now?
CARB says it is not enforcing that part of the rule. It withdrew its federal waiver request for Advanced Clean Fleets and says it is not enforcing the drayage and high-priority fleet portions. State and local government fleet rules still apply. Rules here are changing, so check CARB's current status before you buy or register a drayage truck. At Sticker Quicker we handle only the DMV registration side.
Can an LA truck be renewed online with a Clean Truck Check hold?
Where eligible, yes. At Sticker Quicker we can post the renewal fees on a California truck while you clear a CARB Clean Truck Check hold, which stops penalties from growing on top of the compliance problem. CARB says the hold clears one to three business days after the vehicle is compliant.
Is there a Sticker Quicker office in Los Angeles?
No. Sticker Quicker has one counter, in Fremont. We serve Los Angeles trucks online and by mail: renewals up to 80,000 lbs online with an instant e-copy, and originals for new trucks or transfers mailed to us and reviewed before we file. Plates and stickers ship next day by tracked FedEx.
What is the Clean Truck Fund rate at the Port of Los Angeles?
$10 per TEU. The Port of Los Angeles lists the Clean Truck Fund rate as $10 per TEU on loaded containers moved by trucks that are not exempt, collected since April 1, 2022. Zero emission trucks are exempt. It is a port charge, separate from the DMV registration fees we process at Sticker Quicker.
