Commercial Truck Registration Service for California
We're Sticker Quicker, a licensed California DMV business partner (OL 90656), and we register commercial trucks statewide: new trucks from the MCO or MSO, renewals up to 80,000 lbs online, transfers, weight changes, and plates issued the same day at our Fremont counter. Renew online from anywhere in California, or bring the file to us.
What we handle for a commercial truck
A commercial truck in California carries more paperwork than a car: a declared gross weight, a weight decal, heavy vehicle use tax proof at the top weight classes, and a CARB emissions program on anything over 14,000 lbs GVWR. We take that file off your desk. We process it under our DMV occupational license, OL 90656, and when you come to our counter in Fremont we issue plates and stickers on the spot.
New truck registration from the manufacturer's certificate of origin (MCO or MSO) or a dealer report of sale. We get the REG 343, REG 4008, and VIN verification right the first time.
Renewals up to 80,000 lbs online through our Virtual Garage, including trucks with a registration hold on the record, where eligible.
Transfers and out-of-state trucks we do the title work for trucks bought from another owner, another state, or an auction.
Weight changes when a body, crane, or lift gate changes what the truck weighs, we move the declared weight with it.
Plates, stickers, and permits commercial and truck-tractor plates, PTI trailer plates, replacements, and help with the moving permit an unregistered truck needs to reach the scale or a VIN inspection.
What California adds on top of a standard registration
These are the requirements that most often stall a commercial truck at the DMV. We check each one before we file your paperwork, so the transaction goes through once.
| Requirement | Applies to |
|---|---|
| CVRA weight fees, weight decal, and CVRA year sticker | 10,001 lbs and up |
| Declaration of gross or combined gross weight (REG 4008) | Commercial, 6,001 lbs unladen and up, except pickups |
| Certified weight certificate | Some lighter commercial vehicles and new dealer sales |
| IRS Form 2290 Schedule 1 proof | 55,000 lbs and up |
| CARB Clean Truck Check compliance | Over 14,000 lbs GVWR |
| Motor carrier permit (separate from registration) | For-hire, or 10,001 lbs GVWR and up |
A weight that is declared too low invites trouble at the scales, and one declared too high overpays every year. If the declared weight goes up mid-year, DMV charges the extra CVRA fees for the rest of the year; if it goes down, nothing is refunded. That is why we push to get the weight right on day one.

Commercial Truck Registration Questions
What does a commercial truck registration service do?
We handle the DMV side of owning a truck so you do not have to. At Sticker Quicker, a licensed California DMV business partner (OL 90656), that means new registration from the MCO or MSO, renewals, title transfers, weight changes, and plates and stickers. You skip the DMV line, and we check the paperwork before we file it.
Which trucks pay California CVRA weight fees?
Commercial motor vehicles declared at 10,001 lbs or more gross or combined gross weight pay Commercial Vehicle Registration Act weight fees and carry a CVRA weight decal. Unmodified pickups are registered by unladen weight instead. The declared weight goes on form REG 4008, and at Sticker Quicker we make sure it matches how the truck actually runs.
Can you renew a heavy truck registration online?
Yes. At Sticker Quicker we renew California commercial vehicle registrations up to 80,000 lbs online, statewide, through our Virtual Garage platform. The registration e-copy is delivered instantly and the physical stickers ship next day by FedEx. Trucks at 55,000 lbs and up still need the IRS Form 2290 Schedule 1 on file.
Do I need a motor carrier permit to register a truck?
No. The California motor carrier permit (MCP) is separate from vehicle registration. You need an MCP if you haul property for hire, or operate trucks of 10,001 lbs GVWR or more, among other cases. Registration keeps the truck legal to drive; the MCP covers the operation. Both have to be current, and at Sticker Quicker we handle the registration side.
What happens if a truck fails Clean Truck Check?
CARB can ask DMV to place a registration hold under SB 210 on non-compliant vehicles over 14,000 lbs GVWR, which blocks the renewal or transfer. CARB says the hold clears one to three business days after the vehicle is compliant. Where eligible, we can post the renewal fees at Sticker Quicker while you fix the compliance problem.
Get your trucks registered without the DMV line
We have been a licensed California DMV business partner since 2013. We issue commercial plates and stickers on the spot at our Fremont counter, and we renew trucks up to 80,000 lbs online.
