Commercial Truck Registration Across Northern California
We're Sticker Quicker, a licensed California DMV business partner (OL 90656), and we register commercial trucks for Northern California fleets from Sacramento to the Central Valley: renewals up to 80,000 lbs online, new and transferred trucks by mail, and same-day plates at our Fremont counter, about 40 miles from Tracy.
Seasonal trucks and partial year registration
San Joaquin County alone reported more than $3.14 billion in gross agricultural production in 2024, led by milk, almonds, and grapes. Harvest trucks that sit for months are a poor fit for a full-year registration, and California has a program for exactly that case.
One to eleven months Partial year registration (PYR) covers commercial motor vehicles that do not operate all year.
Prorated weight fees The weight or CVRA fees are prorated for the months you run; the first period also carries the full registration and license fees.
Notify before expiration DMV has to be told before the current period ends, and fees paid before the truck operates again.
Not for trailers Trailers stay on regular or permanent trailer identification (PTI) registration.
Ask us before harvest whether partial year registration makes sense for a truck, and we will tell you what DMV needs.
Distribution trucks along I-5, I-205, and I-580
Tracy sits inside the triangle formed by I-205, I-580, and I-5, home to large e-commerce, grocery, and third-party logistics distribution centers. Around Stockton and Lodi, about 85,900 of 286,500 nonfarm jobs were in trade, transportation, and utilities in July 2026, by preliminary federal figures, and the Port of Stockton moves steel, rice, cement, and fertilizer by ship, barge, rail, and truck.
Distribution fleets turn over trucks constantly. Each new unit needs a declared weight, a CVRA decal at 10,001 lbs and up, and Form 2290 proof at 55,000 lbs and up. Each sold unit needs a clean transfer. We handle both, by mail or at our counter.

Distances are approximate and without traffic. Farther north, in Chico, Redding, or the Sierra foothills, we do the same work online and by mail: renewals up to 80,000 lbs through Virtual Garage with an instant e-copy, and originals for new trucks or transfers mailed to us and reviewed before we file. Stickers and plates ship next day by tracked FedEx.
Keep the paperwork ahead of the season
When Caltrans posts chain controls, heavy-duty vehicles over 6,500 lbs GVW must chain up, and I-80 over Donner Pass is one of the most frequent chain areas. A truck stuck at a chain control should not also be carrying an expired registration. Renew through Virtual Garage before the busy months, and clear any Clean Truck Check or Form 2290 hold early, so one problem does not become two. Eligibility depends on the hold type and your vehicle record, and we confirm exactly what can be posted before you pay.

Northern California Truck Registration Questions
Can a Central Valley farm truck be registered for only part of the year?
Yes. California partial year registration lets a commercial motor vehicle that does not run all year register for one to eleven months, paying prorated weight or CVRA fees plus a service fee. You have to notify DMV before the current period expires, and trailers are not eligible. Ask us at Sticker Quicker whether it fits your truck before the season starts.
How do Sacramento fleets register trucks with Sticker Quicker?
Mostly online. At Sticker Quicker we renew trucks up to 80,000 lbs through Virtual Garage, with an instant registration e-copy and stickers sent next day by FedEx. New trucks and transfers can be mailed to us or brought to our Fremont counter, about 105 miles from Sacramento, where we issue plates the same day for qualifying transactions.
Does a new truck need a certified weight certificate?
Sometimes. DMV can require a certified public weighmaster certificate for commercial vehicles of 10,000 lbs or less unladen, and for new 2 or 3 axle commercial vehicles of 8,001 to 10,000 lbs unladen sold by California dealers. Heavier trucks declare gross weight on REG 4008 instead. At Sticker Quicker we tell you which applies before you go to a scale.
What weight should a new Central Valley truck declare?
The heaviest way the truck actually runs, including the trailer. That is the declared gross or combined gross weight that goes on REG 4008, and commercial vehicles at 10,001 lbs and up pay CVRA fees on it. Declaring too low risks a citation at the scales; too high overpays every year. At Sticker Quicker we check the REG 4008 against how the truck runs before we file it.
Can you help a Stockton truck with a Clean Truck Check hold?
Yes, where eligible. At Sticker Quicker we can post the renewal fees while you bring the truck into compliance. CARB can request a DMV hold on non-compliant vehicles over 14,000 lbs GVWR, which blocks renewal, and CARB says the hold clears one to three business days after compliance.
